OUT acts as a platform to push the boundaries of contemporary printmaking, provoking alternative approaches and possibilities, while questioning the conventions that have steadily narrowed the field. This exhibition responds to the increasing sameness of many print shows; their commercial expectations, reliance on framed presentation and shop-like displays – and proposes an alternative vision of what printmaking can be when freed from these constraints.
At its core is a single rule: no works are to be framed. This principle functions as both a conceptual anchor and a structural gesture, inviting artists to explore scale, materiality, and process beyond the boundaries of the traditional print frame. Furthermore, OUT’s identity is shaped by practices that expand from the studio, into woods, streets, mountains, workshops, and everyday environments, producing works through rubbings, recordings, found objects, and cross-disciplinary approaches that merge print with other media.
As a project, OUT does not reject conventional print exhibitions but instead highlights the medium’s inherent openness. It advocates for print as an expansive, collaborative, and materially adventurous practice; one capable of occupying space, responding to site, and engaging with the world beyond paper and frames. The exhibition seeks to give visibility to ambitious, boundary-pushing works, championing artists who push printmaking outward and establishing a platform for experimentation, dialogue, and exploration in contemporary printmaking.
The opening event will take place between 2-6pm on January 24th and the show will run until February 1st.
All welcome. We look forward to seeing you there!
